Golden Alley
2018
I want to evoke an atmosphere of moments spent alone, gazing at the mundane objects haphazardly strewn around you in the late hours of the summer while the sun still kisses your cheek and the cold of the night has not yet settled in the air. Even though this atmosphere is more bittersweet and reminiscent of better days than conflicting, Ron Jude’s Lago series has influenced how I take photos recently. From the still composition of what is going around us and the deadpan shots of trash or tattered buildings, I have grown fond of these tactics while I am out with my camera. Other influences such as Alec Soth’s Broken Manual series and both Todd Hido’s Instamatic and Interiors series have also shaped the content and way I photograph.
